New Denny Blaine Listing!

This fabulous Denny Blaine home checks every box and more.  The commanding colonial sits on a corner lot and offers excellent curb appeal in a picturesque setting with views of Lake Washington and the Cascades.  The 1946 built home was extensively remodeled in 2005 and 2010/2011 resulting in a home which combines old world elegance, having hard wood floors and extensive millwork, with contemporary living.

The fluid floor plan is evident upon entering the formal entryway.  To the left is the large and elegant living room with a wood burning fireplace.  To the right is the formal dining room with gas fireplace and French doors that open to the front terrace with beautiful views of the front lawn, Lake Washington and the Cascade mountains.

The dining room leads to a bright kitchen which is equipped with high end appliances including a Viking six-six burner gas range, Sub-Zero refrigerator and separate beverage cooler.  There is abundant storage space as well as a large center island ideal for meal prep and dining.

The kitchen opens to a reposeful family room with French doors which lead to a level back yard terrace and lawn.  The back yard is a great space for outdoor summer entertaining or simple mid-week meals with plenty of room to throw a ball.

Upstairs the master suite has built-ins and walk in closet, Carrera marble bath with double vanity, shower and separate soaking tub.  The two additional rooms on this floor each have their own full bath room.  A full-size washer and dryer is in the larger of the two additional bathrooms.

The third floor boasts a beautiful fourth bedroom, three-quarter bathroom and sitting room.  This space is open and bright and can easily be utilized as a master or guest suite area or a separate bedroom with media, playroom or office space.

The home is a short distance to the shops, restaurants and parks of Madison Park, Madison Valley and Madrona.  It is also close to the Epiphany and Bush schools and is in the McGilvra elementary school boundary.  It is a quick drive to downtown and easy access to either floating bridge.  It is no wonder why this quiet enclave of a neighborhood is so special and so desirable.

Seattle Designer Gives Her Tudor a Makeover

When Seattle Designer Judy Tall finalized her divorce, she packed up her belongings in Mercer Island and began the move to her newly purchased Tudor in Denny Blaine. According to the Seattle Times, she fell in love with the neighborhood and her master bedroom with an abundance of natural light, but wasn’t 100% sold on the rest of the place. She waited a year before remodeling, and says that “you have to know how you live in a house, and what works and what doesn’t.”

Before Tall became an interior designer she was an acupuncturist, and tries to brings elements of healing into play with her design concepts. She told the Times that whether you’re moving into a new space, or someone recently moved out or in, there are several emotions that come into play when redesigning or remodeling your home. Tall said that a large portion of her clientele chooses to remodel because they’re going through a life transition, and that’s just what she was going through when she decided to redo her home in Denny Blaine. From her choice in tranquil paint colors, to the picture rail below the coved ceiling, Tall tried to make each and every room in the place more cozy and comfortable for her to live in. She believes that every change serves a purpose, and should bring great joy to a living space. For more information about her Tudor design, visit the Seattle Times.
